Our primary aim is to provide the highest standards of quality care for the elderly people in our area, all within a comfortable and secure environment.
We go above and beyond to ensure that we cover all aspects of a resident’s life. We are dedicated to working together with each individual so that they can feel empowered to live the life that they choose.
Our residents' dignity and independence are of the upmost importance to us. Everyone in our care is treated with respect and is encouraged to retain a level of independence according to their wishes and abilities.
We see every resident as an individual. We take great pleasure in getting to know the people in our care and we take the time to learn about their lives. It means we can establish a flexible approach to their needs, ensuring that each individual is given the care that is most suited to them, and most appreciated by them.
We also believe in the benefits of encouraging residents to participate in social events and to continue with their hobbies or develop new ones. Our staff and volunteers make a huge effort to stimulate leisure and other interests in order to enhance the quality of life for each individual.
Key Workers are assigned to each resident during their settling in period, and this person will create a personalised care plan for each individual. This not only looks at their care needs, but also helps us to get to know the person and their preferences, because feeling comfortable and happy is as much about building relationships as it is about providing quality care.
In addition to the bedrooms with ensuite showers, we have specialised, easy-to-access baths suitable for less able residents.
Our laundry staff cater for residents' personal needs and can also arrange for dry-cleaning, with the cost added to residents’ accounts. To assist in identifying personal clothing, all items should be labelled. This can be undertaken by our staff, but labels will take 2-3 days to arrive once ordered.
Comfortable outdoor seating areas are provided and flowers and hanging baskets are planted regularly. For those who are unable or reluctant to leave the house, bird tables and feeders provide interest from within the public rooms.
We have access to a qualified Hairdresser who visits the house on a weekly basis.
We have a private Chiropodist who attends the house at least once every eight weeks, more regularly if necessary.
There is a wide selection of available books appealing to all tastes. We keep a wide range of books, large print, talking books and newspapers.
Many residents have telephones installed in their rooms and this can be organised by next of kin. A public telephone is available in the main reception hall.
The house is covered by a modern emergency call system. Call points and extension cords are situated in bedrooms, toilets, bathrooms, lounges and other public areas. Staff will always respond to any calls.
Personal mail is delivered to residents' rooms upon its arrival. Any mail that needs to be posted should be placed in the box by the kitchen.
Once a month, a church service is held within the house. Chaplains of all denominations visit regularly and can also attend on request. For those who wish to go out to morning worship, transport is arranged.
If residents intend to go on holiday, their Key Worker can assist them with any and all preparation.
For the comfort and convenience of residents, visitors are welcome at any time. They can be entertained in any of the lounges or in individual bedrooms, and our catering staff can provide refreshments upon request.
Visitors are welcome to bring pets into the house provided they are kept under control.
If residents wish to keep alcohol in their room, this must first be discussed with the House Manager. At weekends and special occasions, a selection of spirits, soft drinks and snacks are available for those who wish to partake.
Please note that North Argyll House is a non-smoking establishment.
The house is regularly reviewed by the Care Inspectorate and you can download our latest full report using the link below:
