‘Some residents and I will do the garden together – which is about learning, laughing, and keeping active.’
Sarah, Care Assistant
All of our people are selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, expertise, friendliness and professionalism. We’re here, because we care.
Our Care Home Manager Moira MacPhee and Deputy Manager Fiona McCormick have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the house and for our residents' welfare. They ensure that staff have appropriate qualifications and training, and will liaise with professional agencies such as the Health Board, Hospitals and the Care Commission.

‘Every day we come to work, we build relationships. We appreciate every individual and the life they’ve lived.’

‘Our job is to provide a beloved home for later life in Oban. Places like ours are so few and far between.’
Moira, Manager
All our staff are qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. Senior Staff and Care Assistants hold a minimum qualification of SVQ in Health and Social Care and all new staff members must train to achieve this. All new hires are also carefully screened and vetted by ‘Disclosure Scotland’, and references are always checked thoroughly.
A continuous staff training programme is implemented to ensure that our high standards are maintained, in line with the latest developments in care practice.
We are always on the lookout for remarkable people who can provide our local elderly residents with the highest quality care. If you are kind, caring, and keen to make a real difference, then this could well be the place for you.
As part of that, we have established a volunteer programme that invites members of the local community into our home. Our ‘friends’ give whatever time they can to help with such activities, and to help keep our residents doing what they love.
Hobbies and interests are a powerful way to keep bodies fit and healthy, and minds sharp and stimulated. In our home, this can be anything from gardening, to knitting, to card games, even simple aerobics or exercises.
These activities are a way, not just to keep our residents entertained, but to help them express their personalities, to bolster their independence, and to allow them to build relationships. And most importantly of all, they are great way of putting smiles on faces.
If you have practical skills or interests and are looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community, we are always on the lookout for volunteers to impact the lives of our residents.
Whether you have a green thumb, you’re a crochet master, or a whizz on the bridge tables – even if you just simply enjoy spending quality time with wonderful people – we would love to hear from you. Your time and kindness can make a world of difference.
