It’s important to get professional advice on the best way to fund the cost of care and to make sure that you have explored all the options available to you.
We are sensitive to the challenges of funding social care. However, we do have to be realistic and ensure ongoing financial sustainability of our home. The weekly price for residents at North Argyll House is £1389. Currently, we require anyone who is applying to stay with us to provide assurances that they can fund their place for up to two years.
Depending on each individual’s financial circumstances, some residents may be eligible for funding support from their local council or NHS. In such cases, the total cost would then need to be covered by additional top-up funding from any remaining resident’s income, or the resident’s relatives or loved ones can commit to making top-up payments in order to fund the monthly price fully.
When looking into your care options, it is possible that you may qualify for financial support from your local council or, in some circumstances, from the NHS.
The first step to checking your eligibility is to get a care needs assessment by contacting the adult social services department of your local council. As part of this, a financial assessment will be carried out – looking at your income and capital – to evaluate whether you qualify for help with the cost.
North Argyll House is a charity that relies heavily on the generosity of local people, trusts, grant-making bodies, and legacies to ensure that we can continue our vital work in the local community. Although our residents are privately funded, the home must still purchase all of its own kit and equipment, as well as fund the ongoing maintenance, upkeep and development of the house. This is in addition to ensuring we recruit and retain the best staff possible. In the interests of both the local community and the residents, we continue to be non-profit making.
